What this means for a Texas counselor

Because Texas is not a member, a Texas license cannot anchor a compact privilege, and a counselor licensed in a live state cannot use a privilege to treat Texas clients, including by telehealth. Practicing across the Texas line in either direction still runs on licensure by endorsement with the receiving board.

Texas has seen compact bills before (linked above) that did not become law, and the Commission lists no active bill. Any change would start with a new bill in the Texas legislature.

Every license a Texas counselor holds keeps its own CE cycle. The Texas rule is on the Texas counselor CE page, and the compact vs endorsement comparison covers the alternatives.
