What this means for a Georgia counselor
A counselor who lives in Georgia and holds an unencumbered Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) can apply through CompactConnect for a privilege to practice in any other live state: Arizona, Minnesota, Ohio, Louisiana, Indiana, Arkansas, Wyoming, Tennessee. Each remote state is a separate request with its own fee, and some require a jurisprudence exam first.
Counselors from those states can likewise apply for a Georgia privilege and treat Georgia clients in person or by telehealth, under Georgia practice law.
CE does not change. Privilege holders complete continuing education for their home state only, so the Georgia license keeps its own renewal cycle and every privilege renews with it. The Georgia rule is on the Georgia counselor CE page.
