What this means for a Indiana counselor
A counselor who lives in Indiana and holds an unencumbered Licensed Mental Health Counselor (LMHC) can apply through CompactConnect for a privilege to practice in any other live state: Arizona, Minnesota, Ohio, Louisiana, Georgia, Arkansas, Wyoming, Tennessee. Each remote state is a separate request with its own fee, and some require a jurisprudence exam first.
Counselors from those states can likewise apply for a Indiana privilege and treat Indiana clients in person or by telehealth, under Indiana practice law.
CE does not change. Privilege holders complete continuing education for their home state only, so the Indiana license keeps its own renewal cycle and every privilege renews with it. The Indiana rule is on the Indiana counselor CE page.
