What this means for a Louisiana counselor
A counselor who lives in Louisiana and holds an unencumbered Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) can apply through CompactConnect for a privilege to practice in any other live state: Arizona, Minnesota, Ohio, Georgia, Indiana, Arkansas, Wyoming, Tennessee. Each remote state is a separate request with its own fee, and some require a jurisprudence exam first.
Counselors from those states can likewise apply for a Louisiana privilege and treat Louisiana clients in person or by telehealth, under Louisiana practice law.
CE does not change. Privilege holders complete continuing education for their home state only, so the Louisiana license keeps its own renewal cycle and every privilege renews with it. The Louisiana rule is on the Louisiana counselor CE page.
