- State renewal requires current qualifying Rhode Island Certification Board certification. The current CADC/CAADC recertification standard is 40 hours, including 30 substance-use-specific hours and 3 ethics hours.
- RICB permits relevant training from any source without pre-approval and places no limit on online training hours. The same training may not be counted twice within a certification period, and publications earn at most 10 hours per period (RICB recertification application).
- RICB recertification runs on the certificate's own expiration date, which need not align with the state's even-year September 30 renewal; the engine evaluates the hours on the state window only.
