Full board policy details
- No cap on self-study, home-study, distance, or online CE. Ch. 14 § 4(d)(ii) permits successful completion of continuing education classes or online courses without limit — all 45 hours may be earned online / by home study. The rule sets no live or in-person minimum and does not distinguish live-interactive online from self-study.
- Presenting/teaching: one hour of credit per hour of presentation, up to a maximum of 6 hours per renewal period; credit may be received only once for a particular presentation topic (Ch. 14 § 4(d)(iii)(A)).
- Board meeting attendance: one hour of credit per hour of attendance, up to a maximum of 3 contact hours per renewal period (Ch. 14 § 4(d)(iv)).
- Course repeat restrictions: an instructor may not claim credit more than once for a particular presentation topic (Ch. 14 § 4(d)(iii)(A)). Licensees employed by universities/colleges may not claim credit for conducting courses that are part of the regular course offering of those institutions, even if offered in the evening or summer, or for individuals enrolled in a degree program or vocational/technical schools (Ch. 14 § 4(d)(iii)(B)). No general prohibition on an attendee taking the same course twice within a cycle.
- License status rules: Wyoming offers no "inactive" status. Retired status is CE-exempt while retired (Ch. 14 § 5(c)). Return from retired status requires 45 contact hours of CE within the two years immediately preceding re-application plus a professional disclosure statement and fee (Ch. 14 § 5(g)). Relicensure (lapsed) requires 45 contact hours within the two years immediately preceding the application; if expired more than five years the applicant must retake and pass the examination (Ch. 14 § 6(b)). Reinstatement after revocation/suspension/surrender requires 20 contact hours for each year since the last renewal (Ch. 14 § 7(b)(iii)).
- Hardship/military/disability waiver: a licensee may petition the Board for exemption from all or part of the CE requirement for just cause — active duty exceeding 180 consecutive days, or a physical disability/illness/disabling situation exceeding 180 consecutive days. Hours exempted are in proportion to the length of deployment, disability, or situation (Ch. 14 § 4(g)).
- Provider approval: Wyoming does not pre-approve or pre-register CE providers or courses. CE is judged by content and relevance to scope of practice, not by provider identity. AAMFT/NBCC/ASWB/NAADAC approval is neither required nor named; such courses are accepted like any other CE if they meet the content/scope test (Ch. 14 § 2(c)).
