Full board policy details
  • No fixed maximum on self-study or online CE and no in-person/live minimum. All 30 hours may be completed via online, webinar, or home-study courses as long as the activity falls within an accepted provider/activity category.
  • Academic coursework conversion: 1 semester credit hour equals 15 clock hours of CE (quarter hours prorated accordingly).
  • Publication credit: 1 hour of CE per hour spent writing a published paper, report, or book, claimable only in the renewal period in which the item is published.
  • Teaching credit is limited to first-time presentations by the licensee (up to 10 hours). R4-6-802 does not impose a general repeat-course prohibition on attendees. Presentation is an activity category, not a delivery format.
  • LICENSE STATUS RULES: A licensee on inactive status is not required to complete CE while inactive. To reactivate, the licensee must complete the standard 30 hours of CE (within the prior 24 months) as if renewing. Inactive status lasts up to 24 months and may be extended once by up to an additional 24 months for good cause; an extended inactive period requires an additional 30 hours of CE for reactivation (60 hours total for a full four-year inactive span). The Board may reduce or modify the CE requirement for reactivation on a showing of good cause (illness, disability, active military service, or circumstances beyond the licensee's control). There is no separate retired license status exempting a licensee from CE; an active license always requires CE.
  • Multi-license credit reuse: A licensee holding more than one behavioral health license under the Board may apply the same CE hours toward each license renewal, provided the content relates to the scope of practice of each license. No additional or doubled hours are required for holding multiple licenses.
