LPC CE hours calculator
Enter your renewal date and the hours your state board requires, then move the sliders to where you stand today. You'll see your gap by category, not just a running total, so an ethics shortfall never hides behind a healthy number.
- 1Enter your renewal date
The countdown and monthly pace are computed from today to the date you set.
- 2Set your required hours

- 3Read your gap by category

From here, you'd need 13 more hours and 3 more in ethics to renew your LPC.

Common questions
How many CE hours does an LPC need?
It depends on the state. Most boards ask licensed professional counselors for a set number of continuing-education hours each renewal cycle, almost always including some ethics and often a category or two unique to that board. Enter your state's totals in the calculator, or look them up on the LPC requirements by state page.
Does hitting my total number of hours mean I'm done?
Not necessarily. A required category such as ethics counts on its own. You can reach the total and still be short on ethics, which is the single most common reason a renewal is rejected. That's why this calculator tracks ethics separately from your overall total.
Where do the exact requirements come from?
This tool works from the numbers you enter, so treat it as an estimate. For board-sourced totals, ethics, and categories for your state, see the LPC requirements by state page, which we keep current as boards change their rules.
I'm licensed in more than one state. Can I use this?
Run the calculator once per license. Each state sets its own hours, ethics, and cycle, so a course that satisfies one board may not transfer to another. certification.app tracks each license and its deadline separately once you save your record.
