This course explores various aspects of building one's physiological immune system covering use of nutrition and supplements to do so. It also explores the connection to falling into substance use and its effects on the immune system. Some suggestions for preventing ill health through immune system building are presented. Also covered briefly are viral infections and medicationsand building immunity with homeopathy plus herbs and exercise.

This course explores a brief current as well as historical controversy of whether to vaccinate ourselves and our kids. A pro-vaccination view will be presented, as well as an anti-vaccination view. A view of vaccinations potentially for treating and helping to prevent substance use will also be discussed. Holistic prevention and treatment approaches in lieu of vaccinating will be showcased.

TALBERT HOUSE

This training provides an overview of various cultural responsiveness topics. It utilizes the acronym ADDRESSING to guide discussion and covers terminology as well as practical applications of demonstrating cultural responsiveness in difficult situations.

MINDFULLY ACADEMY

Therapists who choose to provide virtual services in Ohio are required to document competence and training as it relates to teletherapy. This training is designed to meet this requirement by reviewing the legal and ethical expectations set forth by the OCSWMFT Board and the Ohio Administrative Code. This includes understanding our scope of practice as virtual professionals as well as collecting informed consent and meeting documentation expectations, maintaining boundaries and confidentiality, and awareness of multicultural considerations. In addition, we emphasize ethical considerations from the ACA, NASW, the AAMFT, and HIPAA. Other sources will also be included to create a comprehensive review of best practices to maximize our effectiveness as virtual clinicians. A brief review of recommended platforms, apps, and softwares will be included alongside considerations from insurance companies. Extensive handouts will be provided and matched by frequent opportunities to stop and discuss and/or apply these guidelines to clinical examples.

This course is designed to give learners the opportunity to think through ethical considerations in modern culture. A ethical model will be presented and used to problem-solve real-world scenarios where electronics, media, and the Internet can create dilemmas.

This training will help supervisors prepare to implement fidelity monitoring practices for evidence based and evidence informed treatments in mental health, addictions, and community corrections. The supervisors will learn about different methods of measuring fidelity and will practice using multiple tools for direct and indirect monitoring. Supervisors will discuss how to introduce topic to both staff and clients, and identify ways to help staff improve clinical skills by utilizing fidelity tools.

This training is designed to introduce the spirit, key principles, and beginning technical skills of Motivational Interviewing, which is an evidence-based intervention for people in the process of changing. Through experiential activities, participants will begin to practice skills and identify ways to use these skills when working to elicit the client's motivation towards change.

Course provides an overview of harm reduction as a part of treatment or precursor to. Providers will review current harm reduction strategies. Discussion around incorporating harm reduction strategies in provider daily practice.

This session defines and provides guidelines for ethical behavior. The major areas of focus include professional behavior and client welfare. Steps for ethical problem solving are described with an opportunity to apply the concepts. Particular attention is given to the issue of professional boundaries (dual relationships, self-disclosure, and professional vs. personal values).

Trainees will learn the definitions of interactive complexity and crisis billing codes and will increase their awareness regarding when to use these codes. This training will also cover important documentation considerations related to these codes. Trainees will learn through written/spoken content, discussion, and practice.

This course covers the definition of trauma, the types of trauma, and how to utilize the principles of trauma-informed care. It is designed to help providers obtain self-awareness and practical strategies to provide trauma-informed care as well as gaining new perspective on client behaviors.

This is an overview of the most common classes of medications used to treat mental health issues in adults and their side effects. Factors affecting medication adherence and some methods of improving adherence will also be discussed.

OHIO STATE UNIVERSITY, COLLEGE OF SOCIAL WORK

Supporting an individual during a crisis event may include interacting with family members. It is not unusual for parents and caregivers to demonstrate troubling behaviors, challenging a crisis worker's ability to respond with empathy. Increased awareness of the neurobiological mechanism of intergenerational trauma can shift a service provider's perspective and lead to an increased capacity for empathic responding. This presentation will explore how early childhood adversity and stress can impact key neurological systems that regulate stress, reward and relational capacity in the adult caregiver. Participants will learn strategies to develop their empathic responding skills when working with clients' caregivers and family members. Objectives: Identify how early childhood adversity and stress can impact brain development and future capacity to regulate stress. Describe how a caregiver's history of trauma, adversity and stress can impact parenting capacities and lead to intergenerational cycles of adversity. Recognize the value of empathic responding when interacting with family members in crisis situations.

Description: Although many older adults experience high levels of life satisfaction, some will experience mental health concerns, such as depression, anxiety, trauma and/or substance misuse. Often, these issues are compounded by a lack of access to mental health services, stigma related to aging and/or mental health and a general misunderstanding of how mental health concerns are experienced in later life. In this thought-provoking and practical training, participants will analyze the current prevalence of mental health concerns among older adults, recognize differences in how mental health is experienced in older adulthood and develop strategies to support older adults who may be struggling with these mental health concerns. Objectives: 1. Analyze the current prevalence of mental health concerns among older adults living in the United States. 2. Recognize differences in how mental health is experienced in older adulthood, as well as the impact of older adults' lack of access to mental health services and stigma related to aging and/or mental health. 3. Develop strategies for community providers to support older adults who may be struggling with these mental health concerns.

MINDFULLY ACADEMY

Assessing (and developing) a supervisees clinical competencies is an inherent aspect of clinical supervision. This program reviews methods supervisors can take to intentionally incorporate assessment into supervision from a strengths-based perspective. Discussion will share recommendations for building a strong supervisory relationship that actively involves assessment and feedback. Types of clinical competencies to assess will be reviewed, as will methods for assessing those priorities, both from a developmental and multiculturally sensitive context. This program will also share and discuss possible strategies for discussing feedback and possible remediation in a non-threatening manner with supervisees. Clinical supervisors will leave this program feeling more confident in their ability to positively assess competencies and foster growth with less experienced clinicians.

Description: Building rapport is a difficult skill to master. Working in professions that cater to children often have us feeling vulnerable and wondering how we can connect. No, the goal isn't to be their "friend," but we do want to be identified as positive, trusted, and supportive advocates. Despite one's efforts to be well-informed and responsive, effective advocacy begins with relationships. In this session, Chardé will discuss barriers for engaging court-involved youth and share everyday strategies to increase professional intimacy through authentic engagement, trauma-informed approach, and culturally competent practices. Level of Course: Beginner Objectives: 1. Identify and overcome common barriers to building rapport with court-involved youth. 2. Define the culture and its influence on rapport-building. 3. Develop customized strategies for rapport-building in their specific professional context.

Where Assessment in Supervision Part 1 focuses on assessing (and remediating) documentation practices, part two focuses more on the less tangible professionalism and interpersonal concerns. This program will discuss strategies for identifying and discussing sensitive topics with an emphasis on setting the stage for developing growth and stronger competencies.

This presentation offers an overview of clinical supervision and the roles we play as supervisors. Administrative and managerial considerations will shared. A larger emphasis will be placed on reviewing theories of counselor development and clinical supervision. These theories will be applied to hypothetical cases, illustrating how different facets of the relationship can impact the overall supervisory alliance/dynamic. Assessments, interventions, and remediation techniques will also be introduced with an emphasis on intentionally fostering the therapeutic skills necessary to be an effective supervisee.

Mental health providers are expected to provide evidence-based care for their clients. This program takes popular models of mental health care and applies them in a supervision setting. Additional models that shape, structure, or otherwise guide supervision are also reviewed. Participants will leave with a better understanding of how models can inform their supervisory practice and improve the quality of growth supervisees experience.

The Internal Family Systems model (IFS), is a powerful, leading edge, evidence-based therapy that is one of the fastest growing therapies. Founded by Dr. Richard Schwartz in the 1980s, IFS is non-pathologizing and highly effective in terms of making transformative changes in mind-body-emotions-behavior. IFS is used for most of the behavioral and psychological issues that bring people into therapy including trauma, depression, anxiety, addictions, relationship issues and self-worth problems. This program will cover the full IfS protocol and will focus on the first half of it called working with protectors, which is hugely helpful to clients.
